  • What You Need To Know About the Palm App Distribution Program - webOSdev - Palm

Web distribution. Recognizing the value of the web community and the web as a promotional channel, Palm will invest in the tools and services that help you utilize the web and other online channels as powerful promotional opportunities for webOS applications. This approach also addresses feedback we’ve heard from developers who are frustrated by a review-first, publish-later process.

  • Why does everything suck?: Memo To The Semantic Web: Drop “Semantic” And Become The “Graph Web”

Second, we must simplify our terminology. The expression “graph database” is a single solid term. RDF, triple stores, and SPARQL are diffuse terms as well as being more abstract and harder to understand. When describing what this is all about and you need to use three terms to get your point across, people’s eyes glaze over.

  • The Rise Of Social Distribution Networks

Today there seems to be a new distribution model that is emerging. One that is based on people’s ability to publically syndicate and distribute messages — aka content — in an open manner. This has been a part of the internet since day one — yet now its emerging in a different form — it's not pages, it's streams, its social and so its syndication. The tools serve to produce, consume, amplify and filter the stream.

  • The Future of Mobile (Live from the Web 2.0 Expo) - ReadWriteWeb

The question that Grisby raised during his presentation is an important one: are native applications really the future of the mobile web? Applications built specifically for one device, such as the iPhone, aren't necessarily any more capable than those built using web technology. In fact, they can even tap into the functionality of the phone's hardware itself like the accelerometer and geolocation features. (Really!)

  • Mega Drop-Down Navigation Menus Work Well (Jakob Nielsen's Alertbox)

Given that regular drop-down menus are rife with usability problems, it takes a lot for me to recommend a new form of drop-down. But, as our testing videos show, mega drop-downs overcome the downsides of regular drop-downs. Thus, I can recommend one while warning against the other.
