More details on how to make it happen with Mozilla Service Week

Here's a great project that Mozilla has put together in conjunction with Idealist, Social Actions, and others. For one week in September, tech experts all around the world will donate their time to organizations and individuals who need help accessing and using the Internet. It makes sense for Mozilla to take the initiative to put together a project like this; after all, it's largely volunteer efforts that have put together Mozilla products, translated them into dozens of languages, and built plugins to extend functionality in every conceivable direction. Imagine the impact that those developers, designers, and translators could achieve by focusing all of that attention on their own communities for one week.

Wondering how you can get a head start on Mozilla Service Week (Sept. 7 - 21, 2009)? You can roll up your sleeves and help an organization in need of technology-related service now or help get the word out! This summer it will be critical to not only expose Mozilla Service Week to would-be volunteers worldwide, but help identify and approach non-profits or local organizations that can use our help.

I’ve posted in detail on the webdev blog about a project I’ve spent the last several weeks working on – the Mozilla Service Week website. It’ been a lot of fun with a great team and it was my first project at Mozilla that had marketing and QA. Please check it out and get involved with volunteering today.
